Pros It offers 2 sided printing. It is good for HP's profit and future ink sales.
Cons comes with small ink cartridges & lots of bloatware built in, All software loads all the time, new ink cartridges run out quickly, Hard to buy new ink, labels are confusing. Ink evaporates while not in use
Summary Try another brand. Printer should be plug and play but setting this up is arduous. I have yet been able a glossy photo because I don't want to waste the paper and ink without the confidence it will work.
Pros Easy setup with wireless N router, prints nice quality photos.
Cons Seems a bit slow gearing up to print, touch screen is not very sensitive.
Summary I haven't tried any of the apps yet, as I've had this set up for about an hour now. I will need to come back and update the review. I purcahsed this printer at Office Depot for $160. I got it home, unpacked it and plugged it in. It takes you through a step by step setup process via the touchscreen. It detected my netgear wireless N router from across the house (about 40 feet) and connected effortlessly. Then I installed the software on my computer as well. I loaded up some regular paper and photo paper and the first photo I printed was from my iPhone. It worked on the first try. 30 minutes after getting this home, I had printed a photo from my cell phone. Amazing.
Time will tell how long the ink lasts, if there are any jams, or if the ink dries out or clogs over time. I cannot attest to any of these issues as I have not had the printer long.
Pros Speed, Duplex, Wireless
Cons False Paper Jam, probably a hardware problem
Summary Worked great for one day then after first duplex printing encountered false paper jam situation. After two days of effort to resolve using all HP forum and internet solutions (and seeing many others with similar problem), it's like an endless loop so I'm returning it to the big box store where purchased. Can't recommend.
Pros I could not even get it to work.
Cons The software would not work and HP help was unable to provide useful help.
Summary I could not even get the software to work after help was provided by HP. I could connect to the printer through the system and print a test page but I could not connect via HP software. As far as I can tell all HP suggests is to uninstall and reinstall but after 4 times I simply took the printer back.
I have had bad luck with HP and macs in the past so perhaps the issue is simply one of compatibility. I loved HPs for my PCs but they seem unable to provide decent help for macs (they have limited special hours to get help for printers connected to macs as well) and this is the second time I have been unable to resolve HP software connection issues. I have also found that problems are not easily resolved on their website with macs either.
All in all, my experience suggests that HP is not very committed to the mac platform. I will stick with other printer companies that better support the mac. Even in a multi-platform environment they do not seem to be worth the trouble.
Pros not many to brag about.
Cons everything that makes this printer function in a computer is bad.
Summary hp's software and drivers are a complete disaster.
once one problem arises it's a snowball effect. the rest of it becomes buggered as well. re-installing the software doesn't resolve anything. and that's Hp's only answer to the hundreds of complaints. (just look at their help forums)
