"I got a lemon"
2.0 starson by IAMCHITAPros: Nice looking printer. When it is working good it is GOOD. Best quality Photo printer by far.
Cons: Very temperamental. Keeps on jamming. It crumples the first paper that it prints...then you have to unjam it then when it finally works it prints an extra blank paper before the document you want to print.
Summary: To be able to use this printer effectively you have to be prepared to prime the printer just right otherwise it will not work. I bought the first unit and got put in service 01/30/10 by 02/23/10 I already put 2 calls with the tech service department on the same issue. It never fails to crumple up the first paper that it prints, hence jamming up the printer carriage. Then to add insult to injury it will print a blank paper first before it prints the actual document that I want to print. It should not work that way especially if you are printing labels. I called the HP Technical Service Department. I spent my whole evening (3.5 hours to be exact) and the Technician finally ruled out after doing 6 different tests on it that I got a defective printer. The technician cannot figure out why it does what it does I guess there is no precedent yet as to why it does this (too new in the market). HP replaced the unit since it is within 30 days from purchase. I was happy HP took care of the problem by sending me a new one. I uninstalled the complete program just to be on the safe side just in case, then reinstalled the program again when I installed the replacement printer. I worked like a jem the first few days, and to my horror it started doing it again (meaning crunpling the first print... printing 2 pages at a time). This time I was determined to find out why this printer does what it does. I found a few things that might help somebody that have this problem. First of all the factory default is set at 2 page (here is the funny thing: on the paper-saving option). So I have to go to the printer setting and select one page and it usually works. I don't know if the program this printer is too new that it is no longer compatible with my XP (the HP technician it could be but was not sure).
I have installed the new printer 03/02/10 it worked the first day... then it's intermittently doing the same problem. Today is the most frustrating day. Just when I thought I had this printer figured out it's doing the same thing again. I tried to call HP today (but they are closed) . I never had so much frustration from a piece of printer before. I had an HP PhotoSmart 7550 that I used for 6 years then it got stucked so I traded it in for this unit. I will try to see if I can figure it out when and what documents I'm trying to print that brings the problem on.
I would welcome a comment or solution that worked for you if you had the same problem.
