Worse than a beta release
Pros: Good intentions, wizards are straightforward, CD burning is easy
Cons: jerky preview video, clutter of programs, MP4 conversion problems

I got this suite for Christmas last year along with a camcorder and I was looking forward to putting together videos of my infant daughter and convert them to DVD. But this software is incomplete, buggy and inconvienent to use. I can't believe the editors have it such a great review! During editing of video, the playback is so jerky it is unusable. I have a 3.0GHz P4 with 1GB RAM running XP, so my computer should be more than capable to handle this rendering. In addition, there are too many programs in the suite, they need to consolidate some of them or it becomes overwhelming. The wizards make sense, but the interface could be a little less Fisher Price style.

Fully uninstall previous versions before upgrading !
Pros: HaveMajor bugs worked out now.
Cons: Had to wait for bugs to be worked out.

If anyone has any previous versions of Nero I would suggest you go to their site and run these programs before you upgrade. Really applies if you like using InCD. This should get rid of all traces of Nero and then you can do a clean install. Go to

I wish I knew they had these programs before I switched from Nero 5 to 6. Had some problems with InCD. Also same problem years ago upgrading with Roxio previous installs.
Hopefully all the big bugs are worked out by now. I'll consider Nero 7 in about 6 to 9 months for same reason.

I've been a software engineer for nearly 40 years and cannot believe I actually paid money for Nero 6.6. After getting frustrated with the lack of quality of most products in this category, I finally tried (and regretfully purchased) this miserable software. My first simple task was to burn a DVD from an existing .mpg. The burn operation failed with no particular explanation. I have gotten nowhere with Nero support other than wasting a lot of my time gathering up information their support asked for and emailing them back.
Then I tried to capture some input from my Radeon all-in-wonder. The mini screen in NeroVision shows a choppy version of what is being recorded, and the audio has a serious secondary echo. The echo and choppiness didn't appear in the recorded .mpg; however the audio/video were completely out of sync in the .mpg file.
I could go on and on about features I've tried and failed to get working. The bottom line is that nothing except the DVD player works...and you certainly don't need to buy this junk for a DVD player.
Do yourself a favor and save your $$.

Tech support gave me some stock answer about which primarily involved cleaning Nero off my machine and reinstalling. Interestingly Nero 6.6 was the first Nero I have tried and was the last program installed on my machine. It was clear it was a stock answer since it referred primarily to version of the software I don't have. I was even told to change something using a menu that doesn't even exist in NeroVision 3. Really sad. Maybe I would to better if I could communicate in German!
I tried to install Nero to a different, very high end machine, one used ONLY for MultiMedia so no extraneous programs are running. All of the problems I experienced on my software development workstation were repeated. This software just has way too many bugs to be ready for market. Consider yourself VERY lucky if your hardware/software configuration allows Nero 6.6 to perform as advertised.

I downloaded the trial version and everything "looks good". The package includes a unified application to choose what task you have and it appears that this package would do just about anything I would want to do. So... I ordered the serial number to unlock the full version.
First of all, it takes over 24 hours for sales to send you a simple email with your serial number. Kinda lame, but whatever.
Then, I plug in the serial number and tried to use the package. This is as far as I can get because EVERY SINGLE application that I try to use causes my computer to completely restart. There are no error messages or anything. Just a restart with much frustration and complete loss of my time. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the package multiple times. My computer is completely new with completely up to date drivers. I have then sent questions to the company to ask for support and after much waiting; have yet to hear anything back. Oh, and don't think you can call someone - because there is no free telephone support.
Well... I would love to write a positive review for this product as I am very excited to do things like capturing video and making movies and such. However, All I have received so far (after paying ~$80) is a complete loss of 2 days of my life.
If I don't hear back from customer service by tonight; I will ask for a refund (I wonder how long that'll take...)

BTW - I checked out all the FAQ's on Nero's horribly designed support page and there was absolutely nothing worth reading. In fact, I dont' see how it could answer many other simple questions people may have with other problems that could crop up.

this product gives Nero A BAD NAME.IT IS JUNK
Pros: HASthe complet package for CD and DVD viewing and recording
Cons: None of the features work well, some work some of the time but not all the time!

Tech support does not have a clue what is wrong with this product.all they tell you too do is uninstall then install or to send them a photo of your hard drive which will let them see every thing on your PC. I uninstalled the product. and went back Now all is fine !

This product is rated highly so I bought it. Nero fails burning audio CDs, completely freezes my system. Have worked with Nero tech support for 8 weeks, all they say is to uninstall/reinstall -- they are helpless. I can't be the only one to experience these fatal errors, and helpdesk is helpless!
