"Add "least expensive" to selling points"

by Talinus on April 26, 2005

Pros: One-fourth the price of iTunes, non-leash subscription.

    Cons: Fewer pop artists

Summary: CNet fails to point out that eMusic is the least expensive of all the music services. Their low-end plan offers 40 downloads for $10/mo, a mere 25 cents per download. It only gets better from there. Once you have the music, it's yours: unlimited burning and copying. No proprietary formats or incompatible players, just straight up MP3s. "Napster To Go" sounds enticing, until you feel your neck snap back like a poodle on a leash. If you ditch Napster, or they go bankrupt, your music vanishes. eMusic's lack of commercial tunes could be seen as a plus.
