"Sajama! Pierre Dutioit! Raiatea Helm! Keali'i Reichel!" on by otokichi
Pros: Great content...even for dialup users
Cons: Sometimes it goes down
Summary: The four artists noted in the one line summary section are unknown at other "music & opinion" sites. (www.musicstrands.com knows nothing about Classical music, for instance.) I find the "similar artists" and "poeple who listen to X also listen to y" listings very useful. Here's a site that has admirers of Frank Sinatra, Maroon 5, Michelle Shocked, or Yanni. In addition, one can bring new/local artists into the fold. (Raiatea Helm, for instance.) Forum subjects run from A to Z, which rivals the IMDb message boards for diversity. It's nice to know there are fans of obscure and indie artists. (Sajama, for instance.) I haven't tried the radio station links with much success since I'm a dialup user, but that may change when the Roadrunner rep shows up with broadband access later this month. I run up song/artist play totals from a 4G iPod or iTunes via a Mac PowerBook, while the 3MHz P4 Windows XP tower takes very short trips on the Internet. Last.fm may not have fancy graphics, but that's just fine with me; plain and stable beats "Java/Active X webpage crasher" any day.

"Fun for people who love music and people who want to find new music" on by Deranged Cat
Pros: Records everything, like the top played artists, top played tracks, and last played tracks.
Cons: Is inaccurate sometimes (see below)
Summary: I love music, a lot. I love finding new music, listening to music, finding new artists, finding new artists that are similar to new artists etc etc. This site is great because last.fm categorizes things with different labels that the users used so i can find bands similar to the ones i like. An example of this is Bonobo, then going through similar artists in which i find Air and Cinematic Orchestra, which leads me to a bunch of other bands.
The con is that there are some songs that aren't recorded correctly .For example i have a song, Brothers on a hotel bed, that ive played nearly 60 times in 2 weeks, yet last.fm only shows that it's been played twice.
Overall it's pretty fun! -
"Only half of the music I pick is stream-ble." on by guaas
Pros: It a great service, it they have the songs.
Cons: I can pick what I like, but if it doesn?t have a play icon, it will never play it. Loots of popular stuff do not have the play icon.
Also there is no option stop/start auto-renew subscription. I'll need to jump trow hoops to cancel the subscription.Summary: Not for My

"I rate it a big 8 out of" on by kman2ya
Pros: awesome amount of and variety of music
Cons: latency is a painful challenge
Summary: It's probably just my connection and bad luck but lil drop outs every 3 - 5 mins ruin decent tracks. di.fm doesn't have the features but I do not experience these latent lil drop outs which if experienced in a club would get the dj some dirties... and have him looking in bewilderment at his gear.
