The good: The Iomega StorCenter Pro 150d network-attached storage drive has a generous capacity; a built-in print server; Gigabit Ethernet; four USB ports for printers or hard drives; backup software included; capable of RAID 0+1 and RAID 5; hot-swappable drive; decent speeds; generous support.

The bad: No media server features.

The bottom line: The Iomega StorCenter Pro 150d is a network-attached storage drive squarely targeted at the small- and home office user. With Gigabit Ethernet, USB port, and generous capacity for a fair price, this NAS drive should satisfy those users.

Review:

The Iomega Storcenter Pro 150d is an appreciably large NAS server targeted for small- or home office use. Above-average performance and considerable storage space make this device a great solution for data archiving and backing up PCs in your office. The four built-in USB ports let you expand storage with additional USB hard drives or share a printer across the network (the drive has a built-in print server). For those who are not technically inclined, setup is straightforward and easy. At $800, the 1TB option is priced fairly when considering price versus performance and capacity. We recommend it if you're not tied to ultrahigh performance. If you're looking for media-serving capabilities, consider some home-oriented NAS drives such as the HP Media Vault MV2020 or the Buffalo TeraStation Home Server.

"Nice, when it worked..." By Oliver_P

Pros: Easy to set up. Easy to use web interface.

Cons: Not reliable at all. Been through 2 machines already, both crashing within 6 months of installment.

Summary: I am very disappointed with the quality of this machine. It was easy to set up and use, but I have now the second machine lying in pieces on my desk and the support telling me that they will need to send a replacement. And this within 6 months of ... Expand full review

"Product was extremely unreliable." By rclaus72

Pros: A RAID 5 unit which was compact and could integrate with a windows domain.

Cons: required too much attention in order to get it work correctly. Never worked properly.

Summary: I originally purchased this product as a backup unit for a windows server and for archive purposes. Initially could not join the product to a windows active directory environment as was advertised. A firmware upgrade solve this problem. I created several folders and user accounts. I began storing some ghost ... Expand full review
