Cons: It's broke. Retrieving the hard drive to extract the data required some special patience to not break the case, although as the controller is shot ... the case went in the bin.
Samsung Hard Drive is fine though and is plugged into my desktop.Summary: There are much better drives out there with controllers that last. Although to be fair, I did like the simple interface from a user perspective. However, I would guess this lasted about 2-3 years ..., which seems to be common for this style of NAS drives. I have had a few Western Digital world books do the same on me.
Checking a Synology NAS now, but will be looking for another NAS which enables me to share my photos with my friends and family

I tried to share photos over my local network, uploading them to the OpenShare drive, but allowing only read access. So far I didn't succeed as the file permission facility at Lacie File Browser seems not running. I can have full access or no access at all but not limit the delete access.
