"Worthless piece of junk." on by ITAdmin12
Pros: Works great for about three to four months
Cons: Works for about three to four months.
Summary: Bought this drive based on early product reviews, and will never read a CNET tech review again. This thing has crashed on me twice, requiring a restore both times. Fortunately, I backed up most of my pictures prior to the last failure. But my ripped DVD?s are history. What a waste of time.

"Worse decision I have ever made. Bought it. Regret it." on by YepremA
Pros: It looks real nice.
Cons: 1- LDAP support is a joke.
2- No status monitor of any real use.
3- NAS to USB backups do not complete.
4- Files are no longer accessible after 3 months.Summary: It is slow. The web interface does not respond nearly fast enough. Any more than 3-4 connections, file transfer slows to a crawl even if the other files are just open. Calling Seagate support, we were met with a very "pleasant" technical support rep. He was not at all helpful nor did he want to be helpful. I could understand it if he had not seen my problem before and he could not help because some research was needed on his part. He didn't even try to help. It was a very frustrating call. Do not buy this product. Setup a computer with your choice of OS and create the needed shares with appropriate permissions. This device is a complete waste of time and money.

"Bad, slow and unsupported" on by _mtk_
Pros: It is not pink
Cons: Extremely slow. OSX Lion is still not properly supported.
Some switches are not supported.. (what? yes.. that's their answer, change the switch) -
"Nice concept, terrible results -- way too slow" on by Alanrc21
Pros: The concept of Network Access Storage is great. The BlackArmor NAS does connect to my home LAN easily, and it is seen in the network as another computer.
Cons: As other posters have mentioned, the throughput is AWFUL!! I have a Gigabit router, a Gigabit switch, and I spent over two hours troubleshooting the setup and downloading the latest firmware. When I try to transfer files to the BlackArmor, it starts out
Summary:
(my review got clipped off) The transfer rate starts at 10 MB/sec, but gradually slows to about 200k/sec. I can transfer files to another computer on the same network at 30 MB/sec, so it's not the network. Apparently conflicts with D-Link routers, according to Seagate's support forum. Too slow to be useful.

"Slow as can be" on by bsesf
Pros: Price is OK. Features are attractive
Cons: Documentation is out of date. Setup is hard to figure out. Worst of all, it's stupidly slow. My old NAS was MUCH faster than this. It's still online so it's not a network problem. Black Armor is just garbage.
Summary: Avoid. It's a waste of money
