"Almost Perfect..." on by everynamestaken
Pros: Inexpensive, Easy to Use, Works
Cons: The humming sound it makes, fuzzy manual
Summary: This is quite a nifty product. It's fairly inexpensive, cheaper than a repeater, and works very well. I observed signal strength jump from "No Signal" (on Windows) to Very Good Signal (4 or 5 bars in Windows). Its very easy to use, just plug and go.
Do NOT expect to see INSTANT results. Mine took about a day before it seemed to reach full strength, and for several days the signal strength fluctuated a bit, then stablized.
The only bad thing, aside from startup, is the slight humming noise, easily drowned out by a quiet computer. The manual is rather fuzzy though, literally, making it hard to read. But installation is a no brainer.
PS. HSB1 and HSB2 are the EXACT SAME THING. Mine was shipped with a note saying HSB1 labelled products would be in HSB2 boxes, and that they are identical in everyway.-

"Easy installation, quick failure" on by fire-wire
Pros: inexpensive, intuitave
Cons: two overheated and died in less than a year
Summary: I have used two of these. The first lasted about 6 months, and died, presumably from overheating, as the unit was uncomfortably hot to touch. It was replaced no hassle, the second one died, a mirror image of the first. I won't bother with a third.
Looking for something else, more robustly built.
Considering the reputation of this company, and it's products, I am very disapointed.-

"One of the FEW Wireless "enhancements" that's worth EVERY PENNY!" on by bretbowman
Pros: Amazing difference in signal strength throughout any dwelling
Cons: Price is a little on the high side unless you catch it on sale
Summary: I was amazed at how well this little guy helped the signal in my place. I get excellent signal strength in every corner of the house and Very good signal strength to all edges of my property. I've wasted a LOT of money trying to boost wireless signal in my house and this little device was the FIRST devices that was well worth every penny I sank into it. The instructions advocate hooking this device up to your PCI wireless card, but I have it hooked directly to my Access point so that all of the wireless devices benefit from the strong "central" access point signal instead of just one device having a strong signal. It works great and I highly recommend it for everyone, especially those with signal saturation issues on their wireless network.

"Don't waste your money - Garbage" on by sherpadude
Pros: Not sure there are any
Cons: Does not improve signal strength
Summary: I have a verizon actiontec wireless router (installed with FIOS) in the basement of my split level at one of the the house. I purchased Hawking repeaters (both died) 7db antenna's and the this amplifier. Doing a test with and without the amplifier turned up to full (500mw) there is NO difference between signal strength and I still cannot get adaquate coverage. Called tech support got routed to India and was asked questions like is the router plugged in. I hung up. I wish there was a good way to recycle my 300$ plus worth of hawking garbage. note my linksys routers (wireless) I can still get better signal from them across the house - complete unaided.
