Pros Easy to Setup
Cons 1. Data Transfer slow if your trying to burn movies directly to a drive through the hub
2. Copying movies from one shared drive to another not turtle slow but slow.
3. Security wished drives could have password protection to access.
Summary First I have 2 Belkin USB HUBs in my home connected to my Netgear Gigabit Router. One hub is used as a Multimedia Network. Currently I have over 700 full feature length movies on 5 External HDD connected to the hub. I have a large household with 4 desktops and 2 laptops on my Network. 2 Running Vista 4 Running Windows XP professional. Anyone in the house can watch movies from any drive when accessed with no problem never had a disconnect unless power went out.
The second hub has a DVD RW and 2 Printers (1) HP Laser Jet 2600n and the othe a brother MFC 440CN I have not tried Scanning and Faxing but the printer works fine.
If someone in the house DVD Rom drive either didnt work or needed a second drive to copy used the DVD RW.
Bottom line it worked for me had these hubs for over 8 months
Pros None for me.
Cons Hard to install, very bad customer service, no real Mac support or compatibility
Summary I bought mine, Installed it, but the SXUPTP Driver was missing... 5 Times I installed it, I called Belkin, and after 45 minutes of not finding a answer the call dropped and I never heard from them again. I'm returning my Belkin F5L009 5-Port Network USB Hub as soon as i can. I am sick of "Macintosh" compatible hardware that is not Macintosh compatible at all.
I finally managed to isntall it, to find out that when I use the Wacom tablet, it makes the OS crash. And Time Machine does not back up
Pros With me getting a netbook with a small hard drive, I need some way of saving and getting my work and music and this makes it easy. Easy to share a printer and my External Hard Drive
Cons A bit bigger then I thought it will be
Pros Thin, low profile, a good idea that no one else seems to have come up with.
Cons Does not work with Vista x64, scratches easily.
Summary On my Vista 32bit desk top the unit seems to work fine but crashed my Vista 64bit constantly. Belkin customer support is very good though, I have their N1 Vision router.
Pros This product works perfectly with our printer (HP Deskjet F4100) which we have our computers set to only connect when we print so no one monopolizes it. Much better than expected!!
Cons Usually works with our LaCie external harddrive but frequently disconnects from it. While moving stuff on and off the HDD is usually ok, watching movies from it is almost out of the question over the network due to the frequent disconnects.
Summary This is a great product and one of the few, if not only, ones I've seen that let you connect so many usb devices to the network and no just one computer. Works perfectly with our printer but has difficulty with our usb harddrive - not a deal breaker though as it usually works ok most of the time. If they can fix the HDD problems with a software patch this would be perfect but for the relatively low price it still can't be beat - even with a few glitches!
