"Poor call quality."

Can keep existing land-line numberCons Poor call quality
Known service limitations (fax, home security systems, etc.)Summary I added this service to my Verizon Share Everything plan for $20 which replaced my $65 AT&T land-line. Home Phone Connect is easy to setup and use, but the call quality can be very poor. People complain that I sound like I am on a bad cell phone connection. I have tried moving the device to different rooms, but it has not helped. Since we are a few miles from the nearest cell tower, I am tempted to buy an external antenna for the roof to boost the signal. However, I am wondering if this will even help since it has an external antenna and still performs much more poorly than my cell phone which only has an internal antenna. Just yesterday my wife had to switch a call from HPC to her iPhone 4s because of the poor quality on HPC. The iPhone connection was perfect. Since it is just past 14 days, I cannot return HPC without a $175 fee. Spending $300 on an external antenna which may not help doesn't sound like a great option either.
