"Tivo for the internet" on by baerwb

Pros: Surfs the internet for you

Cons: Beta versions can cause system conflicts

Summary: If you are willing to change the way you think about the internet than Pluck can save you a lot of wasted time going from page to page in your favorites. Basically it surfs the internet for you in the same way that Tivo watches TV for you. In one short week my entire browsing style has changed. I don't know if could go back to not having Pluck now in the same way that I'd rather have no cable than no DirecTV Tivo.

Note: I prefer version 1 to version 2, particularly since version 2 doesn't currently have the ability to autosense and let you know when a site you are on has an available feed.

"Simple? Not if you actually have a reasonably secure browser" on by defilm

Pros: Unknown, never got to use it

Cons: Good luck in trying to activate your account

Summary: I have a reasonably secure IE (if there is such a thing). Most settings are default. I don't take 3rd party cookies, but I cleared my cookie deny list to make sure it was not getting int he way of activation. I requested activation, received the email. Executed the URL they sent. System indicated I was activated. Log in attempt indicated I was not activated. Request my password in case I mistyped it, YOU NEED TO BE ACTIVATED! I suppose if I expose myself to all kinds of nasty stuff, perhaps it would work? I do allow Java, but not directX, nor should you allow directX. Nasty. I do not even need a cookie. Check out Roboform, great password automated login program. All my passwords are on a USB memory stick AES encrypted. I click on it, and it brings me to the site, logs me in, and I am ready to go. Best $30 I ever spent. So you don't need cookies at all. You go to the site, Roboform brings up your login info and one click, you are in.

I don't know if cookies were the issue, or a server issue, there was little in the knowledgebase.

Cnet should indicate "High ratings, easy to use" if you have NO internet Explorer security in place at all. Yes, My security is all default for all four zones.C

"too slow to be really useful" on by dbundesen

Pros: not many that I can think of

Cons: takes too long to load all the ads

Summary: This reader is just too slow to work effectively for me. It is constantly telling me, via a little reminder window that pops up, that new items are available and when I click the window there is NOTHING new. I assume it does this to show me some new ads.

I would gladly PAY for some decent software that didn't spend so much time loading the ads. Oh, and yes, I DO have high speed connection. It is Pluck that is slow.

Maybe they need to talk to the guys at google about a new algorithm.
