Apple continues its lack of documentation of OS X updates

CNET staff
We have previously noted our concern that Apple does not supply sufficient (actually, it does not supply any) documentation as to the specific changes in the specific updated/new files included with each Mac OS X 10.0 update. The MDJ (a subscription-only newsletter) has publicly posted its article on this subject, especially as it pertains to Mac OS X 10.0.3. It does not mince words:

"Because of the intolerably poor state of Mac OS X documentation, only a handful of people in the world know what these files even do, much less how changing them might affect your system... If this pattern continues, the entire release notes for Mac OS X 10.0.4 will probably be 'makes stuff gooder.'"

The article also notes the significance of the mach_kernel file being updated (see previous item); it is one of the most critical files in the entire OS; an update to it is not a trivial matter.
