Fix for some installation problems We previously reported on widespread inability to install the Boot Camp 2.1 update (remember that the update needs to be applied while booted in Windows, not under Mac OS X). Users are experiencing the installation issues whether attempting to install Boot Camp 2.1 through Windows Software Update or the standalone installers.

It now appears that disablement of the English language in Windows' language settings can prevent installation. Enabling English may resolve the issue.

One reader writes:

"I had all the install problems described before. I am running WindowsXP. I live in Holland. In my language settings I had disabled English, the only langauge I had was Dutch. After reactivating English, after uninstalling Bootcamp 2.0, after restarting, after reinstalling Bootcamp 2.0 I was finally able to update to Bootcamp 2.1."

Screen resolution issues Some users are reporting screen resolution problems after applying the Boot Camp 2.1 update. MacFixIt reader Günter writes:

"After rebooting in Bootcamp Windows XP, I installed the Bootcamp Update 2.1. After a Restart, back in Windows XP, I had a Screen Resolution of 640x480 Pixel an 16 Colors. And whatever I tried, it was impossible to change that. I had to reinstall windows XP from the beginning, an then I had to install the Bootcamp Driver from the Installer DVD #1 that came with my MacPro. I use an older Apple Cinema Display 24", but I had never any Problems with this dislplay, until I installed Bootcamp Update 2.1."
