DVD Update 3.1: reader reports

We have received a number of messages from readers reporting various experiences (mostly successful) with the Apple DVD Player 3.1 update (available via Software Update) released late last week. However, several readers have reported problems with B&W G3s. Woody Hanscom's experience is typical. He writes:

"Ever since upgrading to 10.1.3, DVD Player has been unusable on my B&W G3. Yesterday's DVD Player update did nothing to fix the problem - I just get the error message: 'This configuration is not supported.'"

Update: Problems with the B&W G3s are not universal. We have since heard from several users who report that the update works fine on their G3 B&Ws.
