Fix for Quicken 98 gray dialog boxes in Mac OS 9.1

CNET staff
We have previously reported that, after running Quicken 98 in Mac OS 9.1, the background color of dialog boxes and splash screens (even those not associated with Quicken) will become gray. Gregory Dow has a work-around. He writes:

"The problem is that Quicken 98 changes the default system window color table. Specifically, it changes the content color entry in 'wctb' resource ID 0 from white to a shade of gray. This change occurs in the RAM copy of that resource, which is why restarting eliminates the problem (until the next time you run Quicken 98). I wrote a freeware utility called FixWindowBackground which restores the default window content color to white."

We tried it; it worked.

Update: Gregory Rivers suggests that the ultimate cause of the problem here may be the old (pre 2.0) version of OneClick Runtime used by Quicken 98.
