Front Row 1.2.1 (#3): Another possible fix for problems accessing movie trailers

CNET staff

We continue to report on issues accessing the Apple movie trailers server through Front Row.

For some users the issue was resolved with Front Row 1.2.1, but it persists for others. As noted yesterday, in-house we've yet to attain a single successful connection to the movie trailers server, constantly receiving the message "Movie Trailers server not responding" when attempting to access the feature.

Though the workaround was not effective in-house, some users report that toggling the streaming speed in the "QuickTime" pane of System Preferences resolved the issues.

One MacFixIt reader writes:

"I had the problem of the Movie Trailer Not Responding, but it was always while a trailer was playing, and all that happened was a small pause in playback. No biggie, and I figured it was just that bandwidth was choking. Anyway, the other day, I had reason to change my Quicktime Preferences in System Preferences to 256 kbps streaming from 384. After doing so, in Front Row I couldn't even get the posters to load in Movie Trailers. I got the error "Movie Trailer Not Responding." I realized then, what most people are complaining about.

"Merely changing my preferences back up to 384 kbps alleviated the problem (though it still pauses on occasion and says ;Movie Trailer Not Responding.'"
