MacBook Pro drops FireWire 800 port -- no high-speed IEEE 1394 on new model

While Apple's new MacBook Pro sports a number of features not found on its PowerPC G4-based predecessors, one glaring omission that will primarily affect digital video artists and editors is the lack of a FireWire 800 port.

The new units sport only a single FireWire 400 port and two USB 2.0 ports.

However, the new model does include an ExpressCard slot, which supports both the USB 2.0 and PCI Express interfaces.
