Norton Utilities: FWB conflicts; FileSaver bugs? Maxim Muir updated to Norton Utilities 4.0.1 and updated to the latest version of FWB drivers. Norton still gave a "bad partition" error message when checking the drive. We have gotten other reports of persisting problems with Norton Disk Doctor. Several other reports indicate continuing problems related to FileSaver, especially crashes at Shutdown - possibly involving a conflict with the Control Strip extension.
Update: Dave Lewis (of Symantec) replies: "If Norton Utilities 4.0.1 found an error on a drive, then there is an error on the drive that needs fixing. NDD 4.0.1 may still find a problems in the DDM of HDT formatted disks (if the problem exists). NDD 4.0.1 will correctly repair these errors. This is noted in the Read Me for the NDD patch."
