Office v. X CD Key error; Microsoft's official reply

Confirming our previous report, and hopefully putting an end to this matter, several readers sent us a copy of the following email, sent by Microsoft, regarding Product/CD Key installation problems with Office v. X:

"Due to a minor manufacturing issue, an incorrect CD Key may have been placed on your copy of software. This error has been corrected but certain copies were mailed prior to the correction. You will need a correct CD Key to install your product. The quality of your software has not been altered in any way...If the CD Key does not allow you to fully install the product, please call 800-936-5700 to obtain a new CD Key."
