Use CPU Monitor to access memory usage info Regarding our previous mention of TIL article 106386 on viewing memory usage, Lou Perez notes that Apple's CPU Monitor utility has shortcuts to both ProcessViewer and Terminal's <top> command. You find them in the Processes menu.

Getting Emailer to run from Classic We get occasional reports of an inability to launch Claris Emailer from Classic. For example, one reader kept getting a shared library error: "<DropïFat App><DropïFat App><InterfaceLib>." If this happens to you, Mike Casey offers the solution: "Emailer installs by default as a FAT application that will work on any Mac. I installed a fresh copy of Emailer from OS 9.1 (you could probably do the same from the Classic side of OS X) but custom installed it as Power PC only, moved all my files from the old Emailer folder into the new one, rebooted into OS X and tried launching the application. Works like a charm."

Mac OS X Server and changing permissions: another follow-up Chris Murphy writes: "I installed a Mac OS X Server machine and I can confirm your report of how insanely long it can take for Server Admin to copy permissions/owner/group information to all enclosed folders/files. However, if instead of using the Copy button in Server Admin, I use the Terminal (e.g., chmod -R 770 <foldername>), everything speeds up. For example, on a folder with 3GB of data, around 15000 files, this took maybe 5 seconds on a dual G4 533 server. The same folder took more than 10 minutes using Server Admin."
