PowerBook Titanium/17" CD/DVD ejection problems

PowerBook Titanium/17" CD/DVD ejection problems

CNET staff

Issues with ejecting CDs and DVDs using PowerBook Titanium and new 17" PowerBook models have been reported recently in our forums and in user e-mails. The system properly attempts to eject the disc (not a software issue), but is in some cases blocked by an apparent mechanical defect.

MacFixIt reader Reuben writes:

"I received my 17" PowerBook a couple of days ago. It seems to have problems ejecting CD/DVDs. When it attempts to eject the disc, the foam covering the drive slot keeps it from being ejected. I have to slide a key or something in the slot to give it some room. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the foam or if the drive is seated a couple millimeters too high."

Some users have reported that Apple repaired Titanium PowerBooks with the same problem under warranty. As usual, you will experience more convenient service and quicker turnaround with AppleCare coverage.
