Problem with AppleWorks 6 database files and DataViz?

CNET staff
Regarding the DataViz translators that are now included with AppleWorks 6.1.2, a reader informs of a problem with saving database documents:

"It's impossible to save a database in one of the file formats provided by the new DataViz translators. If you choose one of these formats in the 'Save As …' dialog, nothing will happen. This is due to the fact that the translators are similar to those that ship with MacLinkPlus 12, and MLP 12 doesn't handle AW 6 databases. In MLP, you have to save AW 6 databases as ClarisWorks 4 databases before you can convert them. Though it is not mentioned in the updated Help files or in the Apple TIL, you have to go through the same procedure with AppleWorks 6.1.2: Save your database as ClarisWorks 4, open the Claris database, and then save it in the file format you wish. (Be aware, however, to not replace your AW 6 database with the Claris database, because it will be rendered uneditable by AW 6.)"
