Qwest's StarterPak: one more follow-up

Qwest's StarterPak: one more follow-up

One (hopefully) final item on the Qwest.net StarterPak (see also previous coverage): William Kucharski writes:

"If you currently have Qwest DSL service with qwest.net as your ISP, you can ask to have your ISP service changed to the Qwest StarterPak. You will retain the same email addresses, the same name servers, the same speed DSL line you have now, etc. The only difference you should see is an extra $5/month on your Qwest telephone bill for the cost difference between the Qwest residential and their StarterPak business service. In fact, according to the person I spoke to, the entire process should be seamless and requires no configuration changes on your end - the only difference you should notice is a slightly higher phone bill.

Qwest will not actively tell you about this if you are a residential customer because they want to get rid of their consumer ISP business altogether (thus the sale to MSN), so their reps are told to not mention the StarterPak service when a customer calls to switch their ISP. The switch is free thanks to the MSN switch, and through May 31, 2002 there is also no StarterPak setup charge for existing qwest.net subscribers."
