Solving MouseWare conflicts: a follow-up

Regarding the conflict between MouseWare and Smart Scroll, Snapz Pro, and Scrollability, as covered last time: Most readers agreed that the key to working around this conflict is to get the MouseWare extension to load after these other extensions. As noted last time, LogiTech's advice for how to accomplish this did not work for many users. What did work was to use Conflict Catcher to get the MouseWare extension to load after the others. (Thanks, Bruce Gerson, Tom Kalikajaros and Matthew Barry.) Paul McCabe did have success with LogiTech's advice, to place a ~ in front of MouseWare name. For Paul, the key to success was to change the name of the extension, not the name of the control panel. Yuwen Cheng confirmed this, adding it may also help to move Snapz Pro from the Control Panels folder to Extensions Folder, and put an alias back in Control Panels folder. Several readers claimed that even the Smart Scrolling option of the Appearance control panel could trigger this conflict, but this did not seem to be a general finding. If you suspect this cause on your Mac, try unchecking the Smart Scrolling option. LogiTech's name change solution may also work here, allowing you to keep the option enabled. (Thanks, Kevin Harrison and others). Doug Sundberg reports that MouseWare and ATM may similarly conflict. Beyond this, several readers noted that, even it when it works, there are problems with using MouseWare, especially problems with vertical movement in games such as Quake and Unreal. USB Overdrive works better.
