We continue to receive reports from users on their experiences with the PowerBook power adapter recall (see previous coverage). Here is the latest:

"Yo-yo" recall? No Judi Sohn notes: "When Apple first announced the recall, I didn't even bother to check my serial number. I have a PowerBook G3/400 Pismo, purchased April 2000 with a M7332 AC Adapter so I thought my machine didn't qualify. When I read in your page today that so-called 'yo yo' adapters were qualifying, I went to the web site and sure enough my adapter is up for replacement. But the reason why I'm writing is to draw your attention to the confirmation page I received, which includes a photo of the yo-yo adapter! I took a screen shot of the confirmation page (serial number intentionally blurred) showing the 'yo-yo' photograph."

Note: However, the web page states that the yo-yo photo shows what "Apple will ship you as a replacement AC adapter." The yo-yo adapters are not officially part of the recall, even though Apple is apparently unofficially replacing some of them. The confusion apparently stems from the fact that Apple is not always able to tell from the PowerBook serial number what adapter you have.

VST Catch-22? Chad McQuinn writes: "Apple says they will replace adapters that came with PowerBook G3s as well as those that came with VST battery chargers. The problem is that you can only complete the form on their web site if you have a PB G3 serial number. I don't. I have an iBook and a VST iBook battery charger. The charger uses the old (recalled) power adapter."

Update: Apple is replying Steve Godun notes: "Apple is responding to adapter requests made via their web site. I received mine. It just takes awhile." Others have confirmed this.
