  • "If only WP were OS X capable"
    on by mickmack

Pros Fully capable, intuitive, and reliable

Cons Not available for OS X

Summary As a long-time WordPerfect user (since 1985!), I would buy this product today if it would run on OS X. I've used both WP and MS Doc for many years, and WP has always been a more capable, more intuitive, and more reliable program than MS Doc (ah, maybe there was a year there in the DOC to Windows conversion when this wasn't true). WP has been so much better for editing and formatting, even on would should be simple things such as controlling pagination, setting of leading adjustments, and the like.

Having given up on Windows because of all the security issues and having no reason to expect VISTA to arrive problem-free, I switched to Mac this past year. I'd love to have WP back as my main wordprocessor.

  • "feels clunky, visually unappealing"
    on by chubkisser

Pros It's compatible with Word and not as expensive

Cons again, it has a very clunky feel, and is visually unappealing.

Summary There doesn't seem to be a way to turn off the "comment" fields that show up to the left. Regardless of where in a line you insert a comment, the comment field shows up to the left anyway.

The help file is very spare, and not very helpful at all. The sample pages within the help are so low-resolution, they're no help at all.

Terrible for writing scripts or copy editing.

  • "Constant "Unstable" problems within Quattro Pro"
    on by jdnburns

Pros Used the suite for years, successfully without current problems

Cons No help when trying to obtain help after being asked to submit error message....

Summary I am a long time user until X3 came along and I do NOT APPRECIATE fact that I can NEVER get this issue resolved. I have tried every thing to get my point across to Corel without success. I have bought Microsoft Office now and I have to transfer 100s of spreadsheets to Office Excel. I am really "sore" at Corel for treating me so badly, by "ignoring" my questions.

This could have been resolved but they are "NOT AT THE OTHER END OF THE LINE".

  • "XP Template Problems"
    on by darindoak

    Pros not applicable here

Cons Unreliable and dishonest customer support

Summary Have been using this product for over 15 years.
Called for customer support with regard to a template that suddenly would not function (ie data would not fill into the document after being entered into template window). Other reports of this exist online. Over the phone, Corel could not fix the problem. They suggested that I email the document and would hear from them in 4-5 days. After three weeks I called back. A different support tech answered the phone, indicated that they had received the template, it functioned, and that they had emailed me indicating everything worked fine. First, the product does NOT work "fine"; my belief is that Corel simply couldn't fix it upon receipt. Second, no one emailed me to confirm anything, thus, necessitating my follow up call three weeks later.
In summary, upon discovery of a technical glitch (which HAS been reported previously as indicated by other reports found online), Corel burried its head in the sand and lied to avoid providing true assistance.
I am quite disappointed. A simple, "We can't fix it" would have been appreciated.
Given the tech support issues, I would avoid this product.

  • "IT'S WORTHY THAN MS OFFICE 07"
    on by awienaz

Pros A LOT LESS THAN MS OFFICE 07

Cons PDF AREN'T FULLY SUPPORT - IMAGES

Summary It can do almost anything MS Office from 97 - 07 can do which OpenOffice still lacks. How do you want your files and documents made? Think again, do we all need what all MS Office can offer while others also make many other usability that MS Office cannot offer with their suites? I do hopeful more people would wander and used whatever other people has to offer. WordPerfect should be the No. 1, followed with OpenOffice and MS Office as a 3rd runner.
