"Eye strain. Can't use it. It's going back."0.5 starson by wmstram
Pros: I haven't been able to truly experience any.
Cons: Lack of comfortable display choices. Only very bright poorly contrasted themes available. For me a deal breaker.
Summary: The Office 2013 display themes are all very bright and for me very uncomfortable to work with. Even the so-called theme "Dark Gray" isn't dark at all on my PC flat screen and laptop display. I work doing data analysis for hours at a time. I don't last for more than 30 minutes before eye strain sets in with the awful choices available. I've tried every combination of brightness and contrast and nothing is usable for the amount of time I need to be looking at this thing. The Office 2010 themes were very usable. Why not continue them?
For something that costs nearly $500 I expect more. A read of the MS forums shows I'm very much not alone. The response from MS on this subject appears to be lacking any sensitivity to the needs of their users. Shame for lack of a comfortable display theme, as in Office 2010, I'm sending this back. No matter how nice all the new stuff is, for me, it's unusable. I think it could become an OSHA issue to ask my employees to use this, so I'm not going to. We'll just keep what we have and perhaps just wait for something better.
