"Microsoft Tosses High-Productivity Users Overboard"1.5 starson by peter9291
Pros: Subscription model is a great innovation for consumer type users.
Cons: UI redesign makes it impossible to use in a multi-window environment.
Summary: MS has thrown its base of corporate customers overboard in favour of the consumer market.
This incredibly ill-conceived UI redesign was driven by marketing types who have no idea what the Office suite is actually used for. While the UI design is clearly designed for small single-window tablets and phones, it's hard to imagine that any serious user of the suite would use it exclusively on those tiny screens.
A repair to the problem would be incredibly simple, just two simple changes. Firstly, restore the colored border around the app window, in a color that contrasts with the rest of the window contents. Secondly, restore the contrasting delineation of the area that is clicked to drag the window around the screen. The people who put these design elements into Windows many versions ago knew what they were doing! To eliminate those elements is basically to abandon the entire multi-window concept.
