"Its free, and better than anything else" on by Dustout
Pros: Free user videos with unlimited size, can save video to Video Ipod and PSP
Cons: low resolution
Summary: I have been a very big fan of google video right from its launch (where you would need to download a google video program to view the videos). I stronly believe that google video is the best site for hosting videos. I have not purchased a video from there yet, so i do not know alot about that feature. However from what i have seen from the free video section this site is unbeatable

"Google video - letting the side down" on by monkeyhouse
Pros: A wealth of videos
Cons: Needs some sort of filter/categorization
Summary: Google video comes across as some sort of instant file hosting site, such as Putfile.com, with its hotch potch of random videos. I'm sure Google Video isn't meant to be this way, but instead a resource - a useful resource, to see a whole host of movies be it to pass some time or find a copyright free clip for a video project (I thought this would be great for VJ's). Also, as mentioned in another comment, it's very easy to happen across a video of a sexual nature, though I've not seen anything 'hardcore', it maybe something that needs addressing. If catagorization is something they want to avoid, how about using some filters or tags to narrow a search (e.g. animation, nature & science, trailer, viral etc. etc.) instead of just 'Poular' and 'Random' that you are presented with and try and make sure those sexual vidz are not shown on the homepage incase any sensitive eyes are watching.

"Great source of misc videos" on by mfed3
Pros: Instant searchable access to tons of user made and popular videos, updated instantaneously by providers and other users
Cons: Paid videos are in a proprietary format, I wouldnt reccommend using it for that purpose
Summary: I dont know why everyone has to compare everything to the "almighty iTunes" store. People need to understand the kind of company Google is and rate their "products" accordingly. How can you review a beta of a product? Google is simply releasing another tool to the public, pretty much for free. Accept it as a place to search for random videos with the paid videos being a little addition. Its not meant to compete with Apple...at least not yet. For its purpose its another Great addition to Google.

"Good first effort" on by my_three_sons
Pros: fast and easy to use
Cons: needs better tools to annotate and leave comments
Summary: This is a very good first generation effort. I would like to see some annotation tools and menus to support longer format videos. I would like to set up chapters on a long format video just like on a DVD.

"Needs allot of work" on by peestandingup
Pros: Videos downloadable in many formats
Cons: Terrible interface. Lack of content
Summary: I know its still a beta, but thats really no excuse because all of Google's other projects are beta, and dont stink this bad. If they want to rival iTunes, then this is a really bad start. The iTunes video store has taken off like crazy & has only been available for a few months now but they are constantly adding great content with an easy to use interface. So, whats Google's excuse? I have been watching this since it came online early last year, so they have had time.
There is no easy way to find video content with this and when you do, its usually something stupid. Youtube.com is much better for this. And the pay video structure is just dumb & only works for Windows. This whole thing is very anti-google if you ask me.
I usually love Google products, but this thing shouldnt have been released until it was developed more. This just goes to show you that everything that Google touches doesnt turn to gold. They have kinda been sucking this past year.
Orkut is a huge disaster & Google Talk isnt really taking off & is slow in development. The last good things were Gmail & Google Earth. I hope they get it together for 2006.
