Pros Nice interface, Great idea if it works the way it's advertised
Cons Very unstable, doesn't work more than it does, freezes a lot
Summary After working with Rhapsody's customer service, uninstalling then reinstalling - It still doesn't work properly. I use it with the Sandisk Sansa e260 so one would think it would be problem free since they are made to work together. Perhaps the next iteration will fix all the bugs
Pros Unstable, frustrating, "eats tracks"
Cons Ustable, frustrating, "eats tracks!"
Summary I dont even know where to start.
First, the program cannot work with Vista SP 1, thats the first problem. So my beautiful $3,000 Dell XPS is completely USELESS!!! I lost half my library, and they responded with a $30 credit which wasnt even properly credited. The lost time and aggravation was 100X worse than the $30.
Next - you get all sorts of errors (I could go into them, but they are just huge ridiculous time wasters) on the fly with this piece of garbage (read, four letter word) - you have to be connected to "level 2 support" and waste more time HOPEFULLY getting them fixed. The program has made me purchase stuff I already bought and imported myself, and then tell me I didn't purchase stuff that I already did on their website etc etc...
I thought I'd be cool, and go with rhapsody (instead of i tunes) because I started with them, and wanted to give them a chance. WHAT A JOKE !
Stay away from this garbage - I just put my Cd's into i tunes and gradually weaning myself off this joke. How arrogant - they know that are behind i tunes, and they wont even get it to work with vista...come on (and of course they wont tell you that it might destroy your library)
So now I am using my OLD XP laptop to try to salvage whatever tracks I can and move them to i tunes.
what a joke. and waste of time.
Pros there are no pros here
Cons consumer fraud
Summary STAY AWAY FROM VERSION 4.0. When I upgrade, the track status of everything I had purchased from Rhapsody was changed from "purchased" to "subscription." Now I can neither play nor transfer the music I purchased. Serious consumer fraud issue here. Customer support has ignored my messages.
Pros Brighter display, drag and drop options, easier transfer
Cons Screen items mysteriously disappear while navigating
Summary I still think Rhapsody is a wonderful resource, and I like the upgrade. HOWEVER, in the new version the navigation toolbar has an annoying way of disappearing, making it necessary to return to the music guide and start a search all over again. I contacted Rhapsody about this and was told they were "aware of the problem and working on it," so hopefully we will get fixes soon. I'm still annoyed at the lack of Zeppelin, Beatles, and Frank Zappa, and the fact that some artists (Radiohead, for example) can only be downloaded as entire albums (why bother? Get the original, with all the artwork, text, etc.) and listened to in only 30 second excerpts. But, overall, Rhapsody rocks.
"Do not upgrade yet!!"on by sicohn
Pros I see no real improvements from previous version
Cons The buggiest software I've ever tried
Summary I've been using Rhapsody for almost a year, and the thing I love about it most is it's vast collection, at least compared to MusicMatch which I came from. However, what's the point? The search and back/forward bar disappear half the time - I synch with my Creative Vision M and Rhapsody to Go, but I haven't been able to do that since the upgrade to 4.0. Internet research has shown I'm not the only one. It not only hangs by itself 50% (!) of the time, but sometimes hangs my entire system. I've spent better than 6 hours trying to get it to work like the old version, and I still have not succeeded. I never liked the Real company since the beginning, and if it wasn't for their vast music catalog, I would end my relationship with them right now - but I'll keep trying to make it work.
