Similar to My Yahoo and the personalized Google News home page, Windows Live lets you create a personal, dynamic login screen that houses Web search with your favorite news content and Gadgets. Available at Live.com, this highly customizable service lets you select and access up-to-the-minute news as well as up to 500 RSS feeds and Gadgets online. You'll need to sign in with a Windows Live (formerly Passport) ID.

We like that Live.com organizes those features into modules that you can drag around the page. You can organize content within as many as 30 pages containing 50 items each, which is helpful for separating work from play. However, you can't control the sizes of every module, which can leave you with a bit too much white space. Underlying Live.com is the new Windows Live Search, which has replaced MSN Search and added image lookups and interface goodies, such as a nifty slider bar and scrolling, which aim to reduce the amount of clicking through pages of search results. Microsoft continues to enhance the integration among its various Windows Live services.
