"w00t, they're finally catching up!" on by Wengistein-2094349208292117345
Pros: New look; very eyecatching,
Cons: There's all this other stuff you don't need
Summary: Okay, this new version of Messenger has been a big improvement since Messenger 7. It bears the new sleek look, with a nice pattern up the top, and an attractive contact list. The sounds are also more crisper, so when a contact signs in or you're receiving a message, it sounds WAY better than the last version. There's also an option to disable the sidetabs, and nudges etc.
The only thing I don't like about this is the extra stuff added. There's no need to "start an activity" with your contacts. And some of the programs associated with Messenger Live don't work with Firfox. -
"AOL best get out the way." on by Kent Spenser
Pros: Absolutely love the sleek look.
Cons: I actually can't think of any.
Summary: It's about time Microsoft start catching up. With Windows Live Messenger in addition to Windows Desktop Search and IE7, Microsoft has finally figured out what good software is about.

"The Best Messenger Available!" on by clindhartsen
Pros: Vista-ish style, fast, shared folders
Cons: Advertisement :(
Summary: Well, I would have to say this is a nice upgrade to an already great instant messaging program. Overall, the style looks great, it's running fast (especially compared to some previous beta versions), and the design just plain works. Compared to other messengers, MSN just seems better designed and upfront. AOL always seemed to be missing alot of options to me, and Yahoo seemed limiting. Anyway, a definite top notch program!
Highly Suggest to any user of MSN Messenger! -
"Some strong points / One very poor service element" on by ron.will
Pros: Everything except 'Web Calling'
Cons: The Web Calling Feature with Verizon
Summary: A few months ago you could sign up for the Web Calling Feature using: Mastercard + Visa + Amex + Diners. I signed up with Mastercard. On topping up 2 months ago I found Mastercard was dropped - no explanation only that it would be back! So I aquired and used a Visa card to top-up. Yesterday when trying to top-up again I saw Visa has also been dropped. Again Verizon said 'temporary' problem but if its like the Mastercard then don't hold your breath. So it seems to use the WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER - WEB CALLING you need to be above a certain income level as you can only use AMEX + DINERS cards - discrimination or what?

"Windows Live might go somewhere" on by Yates23
Pros: Layout desing impovements, more customizable, handles audio and video better the previous version
Cons: Heavy advertising intergration
Summary: The new live messenger looks great and very customizable. Looks like microsoft might be ready to start rolling out their "Live" products. Also I did notice that the audio and video messaging seems to work smoother.
