"No Hassle. No Hitch. No Frustration."
Pros: Integrates as if a part of the Windows system. No Frustrations.
Cons: Not as many adminitrative features as competitors.
Summary: PAIN FREE. To date, I have installed WOCL on 10 systems. I have been using it for four to five months. It has been as smooth and out-of-the way as I was expecting being an integrated Microsoft program (for all intents and purposes). Also, after uninstalling Symantec, WOCL found viruses that Symantec didn't discover on a coupole of machines. THAT was suprising!
I do miss some of the special tweaks that I could do with Symantec, but I'm sure that MS will eventually get more robust with this application. The elimination of the pain and frustration is worth it---only one application to install. No more wierdness arising from Symantec executables locking up or no more constant reminders from multiple applications.
From experience, it is much worth the install time.

I'm also frustrated with Symantec taking my computers to a crawl and having to deal with the ccApp.exe file failure during about 50% of my boot sessions. The ccApp failure has plagued Symantec for several versions now and my patience has run out waiting for this bug/design failure to be corrected.
Here's what I'm looking for in virus, ad/spyware and firewall protection...
- simplicity in installation and admin. We have 5 computers with another one on the way. My wife, son and daughter each have their own machines while I have two (one as a client working machine and the other as a server and test machine). My family needs to be able to install and administer security software.
- performace (launch and update): Launching and updating security software should not take ten minutes upon each boot and should not interfere with useability once the desktop is presented. Symantec (virus/firewall) and Ghostsurf (ad/spyware) are really dragging down the boot process and the time required to make the desktop usable.
- performance (scanning): Taking a minute to minutes to scan incoming/outgoing files and analyze each web page is getting to be very costly in terms of time and productivity. Scanning of files and email MUST be quickened. All too often, the Symantec mail scan icons freeze or remain for far too long on both receive and send mail.
License Cost: I don't know about you, but computers are now appliances with each member of the family having one. That means for many that a three user licence doesn't cut it. To make this painful but neccessary chore affordable, familiy licences MUST be marketed that are affordable.
-- OneCare --
I'm trying OneCare and like the simplicity plus the fact that it has a two-way firewall included in the package. However, I not am reassured by reading other comments that it is missing viruses and spyware and that the firewall is blocking without holding/asking first.
Missing ads is one thing, but missing keyloggers and trackers is on a completely and very serious level that can not and will not be tollerated from any security system.
Hopefully, MS will improve this service rapidly to compete with the best of class in virus, ad/spyware and firwall protection. Hopefully also, MS will be the first out of the block to issue family licences for multiple machines exceeding the standard 3 that seems to be so popular with vendors.
