"Great Collaboration tool"
Pros: Free, Friendly interface, easy to use
Cons: Not a full fledged word editor
Summary: I have been using Writely for several months and I am very happy with my experience. I have also been using Writely as part of my global projects related to my MBA program. We as a team have found it to be extremely productive. We can post and edit our papers on line without having to email word document with track changes on.
The only drawback I found was that we could not format the documents very well. We had to download the document in word and make the final formatting changes before publishing it.
Over all a great tool. I highly recommend it.

I completely agree with your review. I recently completed my mba classes and used writely to collaborate on group projects. My group members and I would conference call while making changes in real-time on writely. It made group projects much more easy because we didn't have to upload multiple versions of a word doc. We knew that what was on writely was the most current. Also, it helps to see the whole documenet gradually taking shape instead of having someone combine everyone's section into one document and send it out for final review (which usually doesnt happen because there's not enough time).
The formatting is a bit problematic, as other users have mentioned. Sometimes, you'll try to unitalicize something and it won't allow you to do it. You do need to do final formatting in word before you can turn in the report. However, overall, I was very happy with writely. I only wished I knew about it earlier in my student life.
