Cons gave me wrong directions when address not found
Summary I was trying to find the route to my GMAT exam center, apparently it was a new development and was not in yahoo's database, instead of telling me it can't find the exact address it lead me to some far away location, i lost $250 'coz i got late to my exam, I should have tried google maps it just bluntly told me it cannot find the address and THAT IS EXACTLY What i'd expect it to do. I hope they get a fix for this. But i definetely do love yahoo maps' interface and other features.

Cons Suddenly ceased to function
Summary When this came on line I was very impressed with all that it provided, but then a couple of days ago, it just ceased to work at all. I've written to Yahoo, but have heard nothing back. Would love to use it again.

Summary Of all the points and lack of points I've heard of, for using one map from the other, I have yet to see one that talks about the dates of the images used.
In my area of the world (San Diego) Yahoo maps has newer images than google maps. That really helps me out, because the streets I live on are not on any of the map services yet.
As far as having problems with images loading, I have had the same problems with the Google maps. -

Summary Yahoo! local maps beta is a modest attempt by Yahoo! to try and catch up with google earth. But can anyone honestly say after using google earth and yahoo maps local that there is any comparison? Google just has a superior product. Yahoo! gets the check for effort, but they are far off from beating Google in terms of mapping. Also- Some of the maps I requested did not have a GPS overlay. But that's just a bug that should be fixed.....

Summary I must say Im impressed with Yahoo these days. Google still wins for the uncluttered fast clean search engine, but Yahoo is proving that Google is falling victim to the use of too much "plain" in their onine apps.
Both Yahoo Maps and Yahoo beta email has shown that sometimes being too simple can hurt you. Google interface sometimes looks too amateurish compared to Yahoo's offerings which have some better functionality and a crisp clean commercial look. I do give Google kudos for innovating a lot. Everyone copies their seach keyword and category field UI.
