Pros Nothing... dont like it at all
Cons Everything so far. Folder contents. Icons. Text labels. Camera. Colors.
Summary I used to love using my IPAD 3, but now I dont want to take it out of my bag anymore. They totally downgraded the user interface.
IMHO 80% of the apple appeal is the user interface, simplicity & detailed resolution. IOS 7 takes away some of this detail and appeal. My biggest complaint is with the Icons / screen / folders. first, the new app icons look like a childs 2 color drawings. I have an IPAD 3, with plenty of screen real-estate but the best it can display when I open a folder is 9 app icons when I used to have 20! (god forbid they make that a setting/option -- how many Icons you want to see) And to make matters worse, then i have to scroll to see another 9! Insane! More UI interaction to do the same thing as before! Also the screen that shows the folder, shows a preview of ONLY the first 9 icons. so you have no idea what else is in that folder. Then, there is the text under the APP icons -- somehow this now seems a lot more unreadable; thinner font or no outlining? I cant put my finger on it, but making it harder to read on top of your wallpaper on an IPAD, takes some effor to do. And why do I need "frosting" on my bottom row of apps to obscure my wallpaper? Once again, I have a very nice HIRES wallpaper, on a HIRES IPAD display, and the best apple can create is 2 color APP Icons on top of it? That's like shooting paintball pellets on a Monet. you should be drawing the viewers eye to the beauty of the display's capabilities and the detail of your software, and not some cheap bi-color stuff. I checked out Camera, and I dont recall it being this bad on IOS6, but as you move the IPAD, there is a lag in updating the display, such that it gives a wave-like effect. Why do the Notifications take up so much space around each message. I can only see about 10 notices on a screen whereas previously i had 20+ (and this is regardless of my dynamic text size setting... which should work here) Another silly-ness is the change to these little slide buttons with green background. you have some places where they use them, vs. others with "ON" . I give up. They took a good product and made it worse... just like their Stock. Bye bye Apple... If this is the best you can do, I'm gonna have to trade in my ipad, ipod, macbook, ...
Pros Fast, responsive, 64bit.
Cons iCons horrible, poor layout, reduced graphics, terrible camera interface, "Settings" interface and iCon is an insult, plain dial pad, TOO MUCH WHITE BLANK-SPACE!,looks cheap, home screen has been reduced in size, folder views, leaves much to be desired
Summary This review is based on an iPhone 5 user with iOS 7 installed, an iPad 1,2 and 3 Retina display who loves Apple and is a fanboy :)
Its amazing iOS 7 was released into the public's hands. Seems rushed and leaves much to be desired. First off, defaming Apple icons by changing the embedded on-board icons to child like plain ordinary one dimensional flat boxes is terrible. The new design has made the Apple iCons worse, gee why not make the iCons better? Or how bout animated the iCons when tapped? Duh?! Im just sayin something better than a colored block. FAIL.
It took Apple nearly a decade to develop the look and feel of the iCons, badges, flow and seamless interface. There is no substance or flow to iOS7 and iCons. Examples;
Voice Memo, Reminders, Notes, Newsstand, Passbook, Calendar and Alarm Clock- all lack any depth and interface is just AGAIN plain white lined blocks. In previous iOS at least the Voice Recorder was a cool Microphone that felt like you were speaking into a cool 1950 style mic.
The bottom tray that holds 4 icons is now a solid block bar with no transparency!? By loosing the transparency it feels like you have lost the bottom part of your screen due to the separation of the bottom row. Where is the transparent tray that seamlessly flows into the home screen!? It looks cheap, sloppy, BLOCKY and does not have a good flow. TOTAL FAIL.
iOS 7 can be a total battery HOG if you do not adjust the settings properly!
New Camera- feels completely disconnected from the Apple design and the device! No flow to the interface and seems rushed. Its blocky and fonts are poor. Difficult to use buttons are too close. FAIL.
The telephone dial pad in iOS 7 is now also a plain white screen with a dial pad with a green call block. Yikes! FAIL.
The trademark Apple slide bar has been removed and changed to plain ol illuminated words accross the screen. FAIL.
The save buttons, popup menu bars, and COPY screen are separated by again you got it plain white lined blocks with black background and choppy green and red bars!! YUCK! FAIL.
Game Center- This is a HUGE mistake!! Seriously, WHERE DID GAME CENTER GO?! The new Game Center doesn't look like a Game Center at all! Again, all white background with some colored bubbles. It has lost its sense of feel, no substance, loss of displayed games, loss of interface, a total DEVALUE of how AWESOME Game Center was, and obviously not developed by a GAMER! FAIL.
"Settings" interface and iCon?!- Another even BIGGER mistake. Setting iCon is replaced with a square gray block gear box, and the interface is yet AGAIN a plain white lined blocked interface with no depth, or substance. The "Settings" interface is one big empty white lined box! Where did the gears turning go? Innovative, NOT! TOTAL FAIL.
"Photos" iCon and folder- once again you got it, icon is plain white with some colored bubbles. The Camera Roll is also a nice plain white lined blocked boring backdrop with ZERO substance and booooring interface. What's up with all the white lined blocked boxes? FAIL
Folders- folders are now a dimensional colored box with no depth, flow or integration with the home screen. They are separated by boxes of colors making it look cheap and childish. Once inside the folder you now have to scroll through the folder to find apps within the folder instead of One Touch. Remember one touch Apple?! FAIL.
Keyboard & Messaging- take a guess? Yep! White with gray key's making it super hard to type and text messaging one big white box with blue or green in conversation content. FAIL.
Phone- the phone pad is now like everything else a white interface with a block green button to call out and a block red button to end a call. Call wait is is amazing with its green red block to answer and red block to ignore! Its really sad! FAIL. :(
Apple has always developed graphic rich interfaces with smooth textures that flow and are robust one of a kind interfaces, iOS 7 is none of this! iOS 7 feels like a rushed cheap version of another OS. If iPhone and iPad users wanted a Samsung or Windows OS we would have all switched a long time ago! STOP trying to be like the competition and Keep it real Apple! Being innovative isn't putting a fingerprint sensor on your newest iPhone.
Do us a favor and keep Apple branding alive, keep working on iOS 7 just get rid of all the iCons, white backgrounds, block buttons, cheesy red and green buttons, the lined white function keyes, plain dial pad, and remember this affects millions of people. KEEP the original icons with a new clean updated look and flow. Animate the icons when you tap them or something. There was nothing wrong with the icons before just room to be improved upon. GRAPHICS must be better and is a BIG upset! Currently iOS 7 is a joke!
Too much plain white is hard on the eyes and plain booooring! If the brightness setting is turned up it puts a strain on your eyes. Take a look at the iOS 7 concept themes and videos even the concepts seem to accurately depict what the new iOS should be....
Concerned Apple fan! :)
Pros None to state
Cons The icons look cheap and Safari is slower loading pages than it was before. Using the calendar is more frustrating now that they made it to just scroll. I used to love my iPad, now I hate it. Wish I can get the old IOS back. iCloud is totally down.
Summary I suggest you give yourself time to look into IOS 7 before you jump in to update. You'll be shocked on how cheaply they made everything.
Pros -multi tasking
-new ringtones and sounds
Cons - horrible android color scheme (***!!)
- complex and flat user interface, everthing looks too similar
- amateurishly designed icons
- very hard to read super thin fonts
- did I mention the icons!?
- even in iphone 5, now the system is less smoother
Summary Sadly, the classy Apple feel is gone...
Pros none yet that I can see.
Cons 1. Color scheme is out of a techno coloring book.
2. Cannot change to a professional color scheme.
3. Colors and icons designed to appeal to 13 year old girls.
4. No control of colors.
5. Florescent green phone icons and colors.
Summary This is Apples attempt to gain new business with China and tweeies by creating the 5c and designing a color scheme and interface for a 13 year old girl.
Bye Bye apple. Im upgrading to Android.
