"One reason I held out on getting a new PC."3.0 starson by teslook4ITJob
Pros: The new look and the tiles. The start menu's return which is similar to all other previous versions of Windows.
Cons: The noticable pattern of Windows that is each and every other operating system is good until a new one is released. See example in the summary.
Summary: The pattern that I've noticed dates back to Windows 3.1. The first version was good for the first 3 years then came Windows 95 (bad, very buggy), then Windows 98 (good), then Windows ME (horrible), then Windows XP (good was around for a long time). Then came Windows Vista (nightmare and memory hog) and I immediately upgraded my laptop to Windows 7 (so far so good). Now Windows 8 is still needing some getting used to and it is a learning curve different from any other Microsoft OS out there. It just takes some learning for Windows 8. Waiting on the release of the next OS before I throw my laptop out the Window.
Microsoft is slowly improving their operating systems however this update still needs work. I was used to Windows XP and then Vista was my nightmare. This is coming for an IT tech working on computers with these operating systems. Windows 7 I enjoy working on so far. Windows 8 I am just now getting used to.
