"The Greatest Strategy Game of All Time!"
Pros: Easy to play (by that I mean learning the functions and controls; becoming good at it is harder)/
Cons: None really.
Summary: This review is going to look like a mess because as the thoughts come to me I'm just going to type. So just hang in there and try to sort out the information.
I've been playing this for several years now, and it is still one of my top PC games. If you are not familiar with AoE II, the game has a 'learn to play' campaign that teaches you the basics. After that, you will go through the single player campaigns and they are pretty cool. Once you win them, you will probably start doing random maps (randomly generated maps where it is you vs up to 7 enemies) and/or multiplayer (multiplayer is probably the most fun part about this game). AoE II also has a map editor that allows you to make your own custom campaigns and missions (the map editor is very powerful, and if you have the talent, you can make missions as good as the ones in the game). I have made a lot of maps with the map editor and it adds a lot to the replay value. You can play multiplayer over a LAN, or over the internet. I regularly play it over our LAN with my brothers and sisters and we always have a good time. The host can also add computer players to the game (so you might have a war with 3 humans against 5 computer players on hardest), which is also very cool. Custom maps can also be played in multiplayer.
Gameplay: 10/10
Graphics: 9/10
The graphics aren't as good as AoE III, but both my brother and I like AoE II over AoE III.
Sound: 10/10
The sound in AoE II is pretty good, and the in-game music is also pretty good.
Replay Value: 99/10
Hmm I guess 99/10 wouldn't be allowed in most cases. But with the map editor, random maps, multiplayer, lots and lots of custom maps available online and stuff you could basically play this forever and not get tired.
Overall, this is one of the best RTS games out there. Enseble Studios did a great job making it. Personally, I think there isn't anything that could be better. Everything about it is perfect, and it deserves a 10/10.

I 100& agree with you, me and my brothers and sister have loved this game for years, we got it free with our computer in 2000, and I still play it today, I think I could play it forever. I haven't got any other 'AoE's but seeing as i still love this I'm not in a hurry to buy them.
