  • "This game, overall, is not worth the money or time"
    on by HeavenLeeCasteel

Pros It's movies were pretty good, and the puzzles were very imaginative.

Cons There was nothing but puzzles, there is no way to customize anything to you, if you don't complete something the game tells you so you never have to rely on you own intelligence, it is hard to see the little objects that you need, etc.

Summary I hated this game, for all of the reasons listed in the cons section of this review and more. Mostly, I hated the ending. I spent hours of time playing this stupid game, and they cheat yu out of a rewarding ending for your troubles. It is like they said, "Okay, we made the game, got this far, now we're tired and just wanna go get a beer." You get ready to go into this epic battle scene, and all you get is a 2 second cozy fire instead. It's rediculous to have someone pay $20 for a game and not even end it is a way that lets people know what really happened. I got so mad that I actually had to find a game rating site to tell people how angry I was at this game. Oh, and by the way, I downloaded it yesterday, and I already beat it, so obviously it is not very long. You are better off playing games of a similar nature for the free trial periods that they always offer. At least you won't feel so frustrated by the end results. The description on the cover read as, "Challenging puzzles and riddles throughout," "Stunning graphics and animations that remain true to Bram Stoker's original creation," "A world full of gothic adventure, romance, mystery, and terror," "Interact with more than 40 intriguing characters." This made it sound like there was a lot of cool exploring and such, but really all you do is scroll your mouse over spots until it changed from a pointer to something else. Then you get to puzzles with hardly any explanation and you have to figure out how on Earth you are going to complete it. Not to mention the times when you have all of the information you need but it tells you that you didn't collect all of the information because you didn't click on a stupid coffin lid or something. This caused you to have to go back to other rooms, which can be a pain if it was a room that you had to load to get to. All in all, I would say that there was very little that was good about this game. I mean, even Van Helsing was a squimish little girl when it came to some things. A game can't be very good if your main character is a little sissy when he sees something gross. Don't waste your money on this game...go to a used game store and buy one of the better titles for the same price...you will be much happuier that you did.
