Pros i enjoyed the levels at the beginning, the fact that each level has many sub levels so you replay each level 4 times to get all the benefits but going back is not totally necessary.
Cons if like me, you're not an avid gamer and only play using the keyboard, the controls are annoying. especially on the broomstick. up is down and down is up! i don't like it but there is no option to change this setting. very annoying.
Summary should have been good. this book was written to be a game but falls woefully short. the controls are impossible, the camera doesn't move, and you can't aim at anything properly just cast the spell with the character vaguely facing the right direction and hope for the best. the sound levels are unchangeable as are all game options on everything except subtitles. all in all should have been great but ended up quite poor.
this from a non-avid gamer rather than the people who live to rate games.
Pros Beautiful Graphics and Artwork
Cons Lack of Controls, Computer Characters out of Control
Summary The graphics are stunning, but once they become familiar, there's nothing much else going on here, except to fire charms, spells, and jinxes blindly at everything.
There are no directions, the player has no idea what the goals are, or what to achieve, except by trial and error. That alone makes the game tedious and frustrating.
Earlier Harry Potter EA Games had options that let the player choose their screen settings as well as audio/video levels. This game does not have any screen controls.
This is also the first EA Potter game without mouse controls.
If you don't have a decent controller...forget it. Even with a controller, if there is only 1 participant, the game is next to impossible to complete.
Many charms and spells require all three game characters to perform. If you are playing alone, you control one character and the computer controls the other two. Sometimes the computer characters take more than 20 seconds to respond, so either you wind creamed or out of time. Often the computer characters will walk into a corner or a fence and get stuck. Leaving you to get creamed again.
Even if there are no obstructions, and a clean line of sight to the target, the computer characters will often take off in the opposite direction and try to close a gate or door you just opened.
The worst is the controls don't even work very well if you are the sole player.
The game strategy: shoot. Shoot at Dugbogs, shoot at Wosps, shoot at monsters, shoot at plants, shoot at dragons...that's about it. Zuma is more fun.
The other thing about this game, don't bother aiming, if you aim, you won't hit. Just shoot.
