Pros Graphics are beautiful; actions of both the ground & space units are true to form. Special effects are also very impressive as far as the combat goes. Initial customization of character was very detailed. Ships and characters were also true to form.
Cons Lack of any "meaty" content beyond character creation & initial gameplay. Missions are "cookie-cutter", and the PvP lvling of the Klingons became boring after only a few battles. Lack of any diversity on the Klingon side. Repetitive, repetitive ...
Summary I am not a true "Trekkie" at heart, but this game nailed everything I had seen in the movies and TV series perfectly. Graphics were great, and the special effects like phaser fire ,proton torpedoes, and ship cloaking were very impressive and even mesmorizing at first. I played the Federation only far enough as to unlock the Klingon gameplay.
At first the PvP was exciting: able to cloak and de-cloak - suprising your enemy; blasting away their shields and firing a barrage of proton torpedoes right at their hull. But, the initial excitiment wore into a grind as I progressed from PvP match to PvP match. The PvP senarios are very limited and there is no PvE on the Klinon side to break the monotony. Even a venture into Federation space to "gank" some unsuspecting starship captain would have been nice. Due to the boredom that ensued, I only make it to the Lt. Commander 8 level before I cancelled my membership. I didn't even last the first month.
I am a byproduct of the World of Warcraft generation. I am used to a broader world environment; where I can be slaughtered at any turn. To me, this game lacked excitment and depth of content. Pretty on the outside doesn't make up for shallow on the inside.
Pros Pretty good looks on the ships
Give a little feel to the Star Trek Experience.
Cons Few Quests can't be completed due to quests items being under the earth and unable to aquire. (gets very Frusterating) Ground Troops Graphics are not that good. Quests are sometimes hard to locate.
Summary I bought the lifetime membership since I am a die hard Star Trek Fan. Bad move for me but Oh well. I will remember to be more cautious next time. Going to check out Aion and see how that goes.
"Very disappointing."on by rmaha65
Pros Graphics and sound are good. Ships, both classic and TNG are all accurately rendered.
Cons Just about everything else. The combat missions are from the outside view of the ship only not from the bridge as it should be. The first person mission are confusing and unrealistic.
Summary Lost interest in the game after 2 sessions. Not fun. They should have written a sequal to Bridge Commander.
Pros 1: The background of the game is attractive.
2: The in-game economy is fancy.
Cons As I am one of the players who joined into World of Warcraft since 2004. I think it needs more connote in the game compared with Wow. Maybe I am wrong, as you are thinking they are two type of the online game:)
Pros Pretty, Space combat is fun, character creation
Cons Repetitive missions, lack of content, unbalanced pvp, bad writing, feels like a single player game with multi-player elements
Summary It's fun for a while, but after you've gotten through the first arc, you can tell they aren't working very hard on the missions. The basic formula is warp into a system, get attacked, beam down to a planet/station, kill everyone onboard, beam back up, blow up another ship. Exploration missions consist of beaming down to a planet, scanning one odd object, scanning another odd object, then scanning 3-5 more odd objects.
Klingons have next to no content. You can only advance by doing PvP.
