This little 2.1 system is freaking amazing!!by glfguy68 - October 25, 2011
Pros: Seriously solid (tight) bass if u want it! Big, big sound from such a small set of speakers. For the price, you can not go wrong with these!! Crispy clear high's, all types of music sounds great!
Cons: There really aren't any cons in my opinion. Except, these are no longer being made for some odd reason and therefore, hard to find!
Review: I've dabbled in high-end stereo equipment for years and trust me, this little system is amazing! If you can find this speaker set for $100 or less, and it all works, buy it immediately! Even if considering buying a used system! I bought a used second system (FX4021) off e-bay for $70.00! Well worth it!!!

One of the best and cheap of its classby bluedragon.vn - November 29, 2008
Pros: Great sound, great bass, clear treble, cheaper compared to other speakers of its class, sleek diamond-shaped design of the two satellites
Cons: None whatsoever
Review: First I have to say, I listen to all kinds of music from trance, electronics, metal, alternative,.. to jazz, blue and orchestra. I have used the Altec Lansing 4021 for almost a year and I am completly satisfied with its sound quality.
I was deciding between the Klipsch Promedia, Logitech Z-2300 and this but finally not because of the price, but I like the difference in bass technology of these Altec Lansing 4021 (Dual woofers). The Z-2300 has better bass as if you like dance or hip hop, you will like that one, but the treble is incomparable with the Altec Lansing 4021. I did not like Bose Companion 3 at the first place so that doesn't count.
If you play with a very low quality sound card or song then you will hear distortions. I think it's best to test with a CD.
A great computer speaker system if you want to have good times listening to music or spend lots of time in front of your computer.

I don't hear any buzz or noise coming from this speaker. Maybe you should check with Altec Lansing if yours still in warranty. You should try to toying with the volume control dock to see different effects. You don't listen to techno with low bass and high treble and vice versa with orchestra. Hope this help.

Great sound, solidly built, outstanding Subwooferby vince320 - August 28, 2008
Pros: Well packaged, no real chance of damage. The subwoofer has an intgral power cord. The controls are easy to use, and the remote works well. The first test was with the Phillips PMC 7230, the highs were clean, and the sub produced great lows.
Cons: No real cons yet..I enjoyed the product. I'll be doing a bit more testing in the coming days.
Review: Purchased on line from Circuit City for 109.00 free shipping. I've checked the logitec version, the highs and mid ranges were very thin, and the sub hardly moved any air. The FX4021 cannot be compared to the BOSE, but it is less than half the price. If you are looking for a decent sound from your computer or MP3 player, this is a good balance between sound/price and esthetics.

great speakers for the $by captain O - January 14, 2008
Pros: great bass, sound and looks
Cons: not as loud as i thought they would be
Review: I got these speakers for my daughters laptop and she wanted something small to fit her crowded room. They plugged into the headphone jack and required no setup. Sound is great and since they don't go really loud without distorting, I can put up with the thumping. Loud enough to supply a small party though! As a bonus, there is a remote control and the speakers hook-up to an mp3 player with a 3.5mm jack, (supplied). I wouldn't want to pay full price, but at $70, I'm very happy.

A pricey yet satisfying speaker systemby borispmchan - September 4, 2007
Pros: Warm bass,small footprint
Cons: The sates are too small and lacks midrange, the cross over Frequency was too high @ 180Hz,would work better at around 100-120Hz
Review: The FX4021 sounds great and the sub was revolutionary and the whole system looks classy.Unfortunately, the cross over frequency was too high so you would be able to notice the source of some upper bass and mids.

Great sound at a great priceby tatedawg187 - August 2, 2007
Pros: Amazing bass, nice controls, clear sound
Cons: None so far
Review: Well at the time I was in the market for the Logitech x-540 5.1 system and everywhere around town didn't have any in stock. I hate waiting for stuff to come in the mail so I figured I would get something else. Came across these guys and was skeptic at first because I really wanted a 5.1 system, but a friend had a pair or older altecs and they were pretty good for a 2.1 system. So I went with them and I'm sure glad I did. Music and games sound amazing on them, but movies are a little dull (I still need to tweak the settings a bit but still not bad for a 2.1 right out of the box). All in all...I'm glad I went with them. Great, room filling sound with a small footprint and not having to hide wires all around your room for $100, you just can't get a better deal.

Crystal Clear Soundby sohailmath - March 29, 2007
Pros: Great bass, clear treble, far better than my old HiFi Aiwa
Cons: Not yet, I shall tell you, when I ll have one
Review: Bought after a lot of search, going into the showroom of FNAC...listening and comparing the quality of lot of systems.... Short listing goes to Altec Lansing FX5051 (5.1 system)and FX4021 and final decision was to take FX4021 (2.1 System). Why I chose 2.1, because my laptop does not have as 6 output sound card....I dont have much place to organise 6 pieces for almost same sound (The difference is of 28 RMS and 24 RMS). Moreover, FX4021 is inexpensive with repect to its performanc, casting me 91 euros (half of the cast of FX5051). Recommended.

These will be the last speakers you buyby mtcawirtz - March 19, 2007
Pros: Great Sound, Great Bass, Great Everththing
Cons: None so far!!
Review: I just bought these speakers today after my 5 year old Altec's died from severe use. I work from home and use speakers everyday. I plugged these in today and let me tell you. WOW, they are amazing. The sound quality is incredible, the bass is out of this world. The small attached control is very handy and has everything at your fingertips, so far I am amazed at the quality but I guess I shouldn't because I had a great experience with my old set. I must say that you can't go wrong and for under 100 bucks at Best Buy, what are you waiting for.

Better then the bose!by Meckin - November 29, 2006
Pros: Remote , Control Pad , and looks great.
Cons: Control pads a little big but besides that nothing.
Review: I love them the sub is nice and the sound is high end for a low price. I like them better then my old Bose i don't care what you think about Bose ask anyone that knows speakers they suck. The Control pad is nice i have a TV tuner in my pc and if I use the remote it change the channel so i only use the pad, You can control the Bass Treble, and use this really cool thing called SFX if your in a big room it fills the whole room but if your right in front of the speakers you don't need to use it. and plus they look really nice

DISAPOINTMNETby 4zdev - October 28, 2006
Pros: controls are cool and easy to use
Cons: subwoofer was not up to par from a company like lansing, in fact the bass was terrible
Review: In fact the subwoofer was so bad I returned the unit to best buy thinking it was defective. A member of the "Geek squad" (and geek is the right term) assured me that the subwoofer was working properly!!! So I exchanged the lansing for a set of Klipsch THX 2.1 and couldn't be happier with them.
