"Good for music...."3.5 starson by JohnnyMiri
Pros: good midrange for a 2.1 system
Tonal character easily adjusted
easy to set up
extra audio input on front panel.
Plenty of volume in a smallish room.
Still clear at higher volumes
Cons: Cable: the signal cable from the audio output to the speaker is not the best.
Tip: I replaced that by using a high-quality shielded cable which you can plug in easily at the front of the satellite speaker. It made a huge difference to the clarity.
Summary: Excellent speaker system for the price which, with a little tweaking, can produce really nice sounds.
For music heads rather than gamers.
They have a balanced character when it comes to playing back music signals.
A bit of tweaking with the EQ of the media player, as well as the treble and bass control on the speaker, should provide a very nice tonal balance for your room.
It reproduces well in the midrange, which is where most of the important musical information is. But, using a different cable than the supplied one to connect to your computer is preferable. This will make the speakers sound like much more expensive ones. It's good they provide an input.
The bass is warm, musical and present but not overbearing and is easily controlled. The top end (high tones) are OK and certainly more than good enough to enjoy the music.
It is a tidy system which fits neatly on the average desk. The bass box is discreet and unobtrusive.
I just wanted something cheap and cheerful for my laptop and these fitted the bill.
I did check them out against many others, even more expensive ones. Anything you may buy will be a compromise, these are neutral and reliable. You'll forget the speakers and enjoy the music!
