Manufacturer description
The Bose Companion 2 multimedia speaker system represents a significant upgrade in sound and style over original equipment computer speakers. Enjoy sharp, expansive sound for music, movies and games. These sleek and compact speakers fit easily in their surroundings to save useful desk space. Dual inputs make it a snap to connect your computer and portable audio sources at the same time. Both volume and the headphone jack reside on the front of one speaker to provide easy control over your listening experience. Odds are, your computer is a primary source of entertainment. So why rely on standard computer speakers with so much rich content at your fingertips? Step up to Companion 2 speakers and unleash your computer's true potential with powerful, full-range sound for CDs, DVDs, MP3s, streaming videos, games and more. Companion 2 speakers deliver both the subtleties in your music and the rousing resonance of movie and game sound effects. Think of them as giving new voice to your computer. And with Bose TrueSpace stereo signal processing, that voice really has some reach. Experience a spacious, dramatic soundstage that seems to extend beyond the desktop speakers - whether you've set them next to your monitor or placed them farther apart. You'll also appreciate the clear, robust response for those challenging low musical notes and sound effects. Companion 2 speakers bring more than new flair to your desktop. They're also designed for convenience, with both the volume control and headphone jack close at hand. All so controlling your listening experience is as simple as you'd like it to be. Dual inputs enable the speakers to be used with your computer as well as a second audio source, such as a portable MP3 or CD player. And Companion 2 speakers are magnetically shielded to prevent interference with your monitor. Now, it's time to play.User opinions

Acceptable sound for their size
Pros: -Acceptable sound for small room (some bass, clear mids and highs) -These are small, light weight, powered speakers (for small spaces or portability) -Easy hookup to any headphone jack (CD/DVD/PDA) -Works great with Headphone Volume Booster, Radio Shack 3
Cons: -Unacceptable sound if you are seeking big sound for your money (Limited Frequency response and low power capacity} -My $49 2.1 powered PC speakers fill the house with sound and blow these away...but they won't fit in a small suitcase (the 2.1 subwoofer w

Excellent Speaker- I love it!
Pros: great sound quality for a soft listner...got it from Sam's for $50, worth for that money.
Cons: volume controls are not that easy to use. No power on/off button on speakers.

Good quality speakers!
Pros: 2 inputs Looks cool Its BOSE :D headphone output jack on front
Cons: cables are ridiculously short. somewhat long form factor. inputs on speaker are L/R audio channel inputs (RCA) not 3.5mm (1/8inch) headphone jacks. There are better value speakers out there.

Great speakers - well worth the price
Pros: Excellent sound reproduction - rich, full, and clear. Small, convenient size. No monitor distortion. Although these cost a little more than other computer speakers, it's worth it. You won't go back to what you were using before.
Cons: Small gripe - no on/off button or indictor light to tell you speakers are on. The only way to turn sound "off" is to lower volume all the way or unplug totally.

The sound is AWFULL!!
Pros: Good looking.
Cons: The sound is terrible! I'm a audio professional (among many things, I sell Bose products...) and I don't think that I've ever heard such a bad speaker. Sure, the bass quantity is impressive for such a small speaker but: a) the bass is totally out of contr

I love em!!
Pros: I've gotten a lot of flack from message boards telling me that my Bose Companion 2 speakers are weak. That I should get some altec lansings, or speakers with a sub-woofer, etc.. Why? I use my computer for music. I don't need them to fill a room. That
Cons: None, that I can think of.
