Faux surround although convincing isn't on par with actual 5.1 surround units.

Summary: I got this system about 2 years ago and have been generally happy with it. Its surround sound, actually called Truespace Surround sound circuitry is an adequate and well engineered, thus giving an enveloping sound experience, especially in movies. The speakers are powerful, but i think significantly lack in the midrange frequencies. The connectivity is quite simple, a single USB cord attaches to your computer. This is a plus because I think you can get the best quality audio on USB. The lack of midrange may leave discerning listeners unsatisfied, also these speakers may be too high frequency biased for some tastes. All in all it is a very good performing 3 piece system and should look nicely next to any personal computer.
