The good: The Edifier MP300 Plus offers a compact, modern design, with small, ball-shaped satellite speakers that attach to a 15-watt tubular subwoofer. The sound is surprisingly good at close range.
The bad: Step back just a few feet from the speakers and the sound degrades considerably; an included carrying case would have been nice.
The bottom line: The Edifier MP300 Plus is a well-designed, affordable, micro PC speaker system for laptops, but it only sounds good at close range.

Edifier is a Canadian-based company that makes a variety of PC speaker systems that feature unique, funky designs. The company seems to have good distribution internationally, but U.S. customers may have a hard time finding Edifier's products in brick-and-mortar or online stores. In the case of the Edifier MP300 Plus, that's too bad, because it's a good little PC speaker system that's designed to be combined with laptops--and it's affordable, too.
The system comes with two small, ball-shaped satellite speakers and a tubular subwoofer. The idea is that you stick the sub behind your laptop and the bass fires out from the sides of the tube. Previously, Edifier made the MP300, and while the two systems appear to be very similar, there are some small differences. The MP300 Plus comes in black (instead of silver), has wire-mesh grille covers for the satellites, and sports a more powerful 15-watt subwoofer.
As far as connectivity goes, the satellites attach to the sub via a proprietary cable, and there's a single line-in input on the sub that allows you to connect either your PC or an audio device to the speakers (a short 3.5mm cable is included). It would be nice if the MP300 Plus could be powered by a USB connection, but the sub seems to require a bit more power, so this model uses a standard 12V AC adapter. While Edifier markets the MP300Plus as a "portable audio system," the product lacks a carrying case, despite claims to the contrary on the company Web site.

"Fantastic Deal" By Tbirk456
Pros: Awesome sound in such a small package. I purchased this product on sale for only $20.00 US and unlike other reviewers mine came with a nice foam fitted carry case which makes them perfect for travel.
Cons: I bought the product in the middle east and the plug is a 2 prong UK plug. there is an adapter piece that converts it to the US plug but the result is somewhat clunky and top heavy. It works fine, just difficult to keep it plugged in sometimes.
Summary: I would, and have recommended this product to friends and enemies alike. Perfect for desktop music, movies, etc.. You can't fill a room with fantastic sound but you can enjoy great sound for individual or small group viewing on a laptop or desktop system. It also works great with ... Expand full review
"Amazing lil' speakers" By droolski
Pros: IMHO... flat, detailed sound. Loud enough at close range, better than expected and reviewed at a distance.
Cons: Too small to expect too much volume, but at least when cranked it's not too distorted.
Summary: Saw and heard previous version at local RS, bought when the price dropped to $50. Very happy with them, incredibly small footprint and decent sound. Volume up/down doubles as mute when pressed together. Woofer really does sound better after "break in" as the manual states. Don't expect high ... Expand full review
