"Go with Altec Lansing instead"
Pros: Good sound quality
Cons: Poor product life, horrible warranty support, even worse customer service
Summary: After the preamp input cord started losing its connection with the subwoofer almost 2 years to the day after I bought them (which is, conveniently, the end of the warranty period), I took them back to the place I purchased them, per the instructions of the Klipsch website. At the store, they said that they don't service warrantied products, and that I would have to contact Klipsch. Well, it turns out that if you don't have a receipt, you might as well not have the speakers, because Klipsch will do nothing, even if you have the box and serial number. It wasn't enough that the speakers crapped out on me after almost 2 years, the customer service people just didn't care. I never played my speakers that loud, and I always took good care of them. If you are looking into buying a good set of speakers for your PC, go with Altec Lansing. They sound just as good and they will actually last. Stay away from Klipsch, they are bad news.

i had the same thing happen to my speakers, my speakers just happened to crap out right after my 2 yr warranty was up, speakers just stopped working, decided to switch to logitech, so far these are cheaper and more bang for the buck and sound better and havent crapped out like the **** klipsch promedia speakers.

Very similar experience with mine too. The design of the cord into the preamp input is pathetic. The difference with my experience is that I started having sporadic problems after a few weeks. Within one year my system was dead. Customer Service wasn't rude--just completely unapologetic--they could care less. Once I found out that there had not been a design change and that the repair costs were ridiculous, the choice was clear--move on from Klipsch. No more a customer will I be.
Great Sound, Lame Durability...now that's a marketing slogan they could hang their hat on. -
I've had the same problem as these two guys. The cord that plugs into the sub will will break after 2 years. I figure it is the heat that the amp puts out. The "glue" that holds the connection together will degrade and break after the 2 years of heat, and the cord is hardwired into the speaker so you can't order a replacement. This liittle cord "break" is a system killer. Not buying another set.

drcdrcdrc, my experience is the same as yours as far as the speakers are concerned. I was told by a credible electronics repair person that it wasn't worth the money to fix them. He went on to add that "low end" speakers like these aren't built to last more than a couple years. Funny, because the speakers that came with my PC are still working. Too bad I gave them to a friend because I thought I was getting better sound with th Klipsch speakers.
