"Amazing speakers!!......and then....."
Pros: Great sound and window jarring base!
Cons: Very unreliable.
Summary: I must start out by saying that I loved these speakers. I started out with the 4.1s. and the sound was so big--heaven for about 6 months. Then one of the satelites quit and later the sub. croaked for no apparent reason. Upgraded to the 5.1s--bliss for 3 months then the sub. died. Are you seeing a theme here? For this price I would expect much better reliability. As painful as it is, for the $140 I'd have to spend to get the latest casualty repaired ($50 shipping, $90 standard repair rate) I think I'll just buy some Logitechs. What a pity..... Don't say you haven't been warned.

Yes, the sound is unbelievable. My ProMedia system seems to go south every 18 months or so (okay, the system has burned out only twice). Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I'm not rich enough to chance a third time, so I'm abandoning the sometimes available sound in favor of dependability. Goodbye, Klipsch, hello, Logitech.

if you had spent the money for them in a real store instead of some online one them if something happened you could just return them and get a brand new pair. and if there was sucha a big problem they would have been taken off the shelves Klipsch has been making speakers for over 50 years and they wouldent sell a faulty product the ones you bought were probably refubished and sold cheap because there was something wrong with them.

I have been stalking this system for at least a year (or maybe there's an older version without the "Ultra"?). My new speaker purchase will be so very important to me as it sounds, yours is to you. For me, the budget means a lot; can't afford more mistakes. With past electronics purchases, I can RELATE to your experience---and no way do I want to go thru that again if it can be avoided. So THANK YOU for saving me the grief! Your opinion matters here.

The heat generated by the 500W amp in the sub fries other electronic components in the sub-woofer. There is a guy on eBay who buys up the returns from Klipsch, installs 2 fans in the sub and even says he moves some critical component a few milimeters away to extend the life and then he resells them on eBay.
