"DO NOT BUY ONE !"
Pros: tech support I suppose
Cons: Just plain junk
Summary: I bought an x51 520MHz and the thing would intermittently decide that it needed a soft reboot in order to turn on (takes 1.5 minutes to do that). Well at first, I thought there was a problem with the unit itself, therefore, asked Dell to replace it, and they did, with the same CRAP! Additionally, if you have an appointment with an alarm to alert you, you can forget about that. The unit, if it locks up (wont power on without a soft reboot) it will not activate any alarms or the such (so you can guarantee that you will miss all appointments)!
The main alarm cranks out a whopping 2 decibles! You will never hear it if you have a hard case and it is in your pocket or in a mildly noisy environment.
Dell boasts that it has a 520MHz processor and blah blah blah with the RAM and Flash RAM and blah blah blah it is suppose to be fast or something. Here is my take on that one. My Palm m515 (6 years old) blows the x51 out of the water in speed.
Yes yes, I downloaded all the updates and RAM updates, etc. and let me just tell you, you can't polish a turd! I am now trying to buy a good used x50 that uses Pocket PC 2003 OS. Being that this is the exact same unit as the x51 (dell will tell you different) but without the problems, or so says my cohorts that own the x50.
If you buy one, prepare to be frustrated, pissed off, and the feeling of being had. You could not give me a x51. It would make a better bath tub boat for a 2 year old!
Kudos Dell for tricking public into believing that this is a powerful desirable product.

I bought this and experienced the same things. Lots of soft reboots and heated battery discharging. I found solutions to all at Aximsite.com. After making a couple easy activesync corrections it is great. I have not soft rebooted in months.
I love the product, the only thing that kind of stinks is how quickly using WiFi burns through the battery. I might buy a bigger battery from Aximcases.com to help with this. -
thank you so much, i had actually called up dell to buy this thing. i guess al stick to the TX, seems it has better reviews. again thanks..

I have had my Axim for about a month now. Long enough to work through learning curves and operational functions. Despite fully charging my battery I have found the Axim in need of a charge within 24 hours repeatedly. It is worthless while charging. I am having problems transferring data to the Axim from my PC due to needed software patches and updates. For close to $600 I would like this unit to be turn key instead of a fixer upper. Bottom line in my opinion, do not buy the Axim.

Why don't people just look at all the other comments and see if there are suggestions to solve this age old WM5 problem? Happens to all WM5 devices.
I'm getting tired of replying to people too lazy to do this. I mean why should I care if you don't???
Word of advice. Look thru the other posts with the same problem and you will find my link to the solution. If you aren't able to solve it...stick with the Palm. You're proly not ready for PPC's yet.
